SOP/NDMA
Kendriya Vidyalaya Gunupur follows the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines issued by KVS Headquarters, NDMA, and the concerned District Disaster Management Department to ensure the safety and preparedness of students and staff during emergencies and disasters.
The Vidyalaya has undertaken the following important safety measures:
Warning and Alert Systems:
Appropriate warning/alert mechanisms are maintained to promptly inform students, staff, and other stakeholders in case of emergencies such as fire, earthquake, severe weather, or other hazards.
Evacuation Maps and Emergency Routes:
Evacuation maps are displayed at suitable locations, indicating emergency exits, assembly points, and safe evacuation routes. Students and staff are made aware of these routes for orderly evacuation.
Fire Safety and Mock Drills:
Regular fire safety awareness programmes and mock drills are conducted to familiarise students and staff with emergency procedures, safe evacuation practices, and the appropriate use of fire-fighting equipment.
Earthquake Safety Preparedness:
Students and staff are sensitised about earthquake safety measures such as “Drop, Cover and Hold”, safe evacuation after tremors, avoiding unsafe structures, and assembling at designated open areas.
Disaster Preparedness and Awareness:
The Vidyalaya promotes a culture of preparedness through safety awareness activities, demonstrations, drills, and sensitisation programmes, in accordance with applicable guidelines.
